New AdditionsWe are adding a 14 room building, "Lakeside Motel units & backpackers", a comfortable, well equipped and inexpensive accommodation alternative. Lakeside retreat has 3 ensuite family suites and 4 double ensuite motel style units. A large common kitchen and lounge area is located centrally in the lodge and is fully equipped for up to 40 persons. Ideal for large family get-togethers, conferences, schools and coach groups. At present we have four rooms open (and have been very well received). We hope to have the second building to lockup stage and the three family rooms open for Xmas 2005. Sirens wailing & lights flashing, over the dam wall & out to the boat ramp. They were greeted by Harleys, trikes, canoes, waterski boats, jetskis etc all lined up for their enjoyment. A sumptuous barbeque for lunch, was followed by more fun in the water. A very tired, but very happy group of kids, headed home. 2003The ferocity of the bushfires and thick screen of smoke that resulted were no deterrent for these kids on a mission. With visibility low, vehicle and park access to a minimum and resources stretched providing bushfire support, many residents of the area questioned if the camp would indeed be held this year. Thanks to the unbelievable efforts of Adrian Hogg, Coral Latanzio and their trusty teams of helpers and volunteers, the camp did indeed go ahead and a great time was had by all, including the many helpers. "We had just as much fun as the kids, and the efforts are well worth the reward" stated Vicki Melrose, who provided a fleet of kayaks for the day. Many residents and visitors to the area provided speed boats with skis, biscuits and accessories, drivers, vehicles , food and a lot of time and effort to ensure the Camp Challenge participants enjoyed their 2003 camp experience. Although a thick film of smoke gave the Khancoban Pondage an eerie theme, the obstruction of the views did nothing to deter these kids from enjoying themselves. A great day was had by all. Khancoban Fires 2003As many regulars have seen, we experienced major fires around Khancoban and Mount Kosciuszko National Park. We have included a few photos on our album page for you, the fires have not threatened Khancoban, even though a rogue back-burn came very close to the town limits. Waterfall Farm Road properties were in much greater danger as locals and volunteers from across the country worked their butts off to battle the blaze. Thanks to all those courageous men and women for their staunch efforts and wonderful sense of humor.
